A Businessman found in the position of the stolen goats in Kabale, feeding under Police Cells.
KABALE: Police in Kabale District have apprehended a businessman and a resident of Nyakahanga cell, Northern Division, Kabale Municipality, who was found in possession of stolen goats at his residence.
The suspect identified as Bashabomwe Kenneth 32 was arrested on 18th April this year after police were tipped by one Mugume Francis that in the area was a man in possession of suspected stolen goats at his home.
The Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the incident stating that the officers led by ASP Akanyijuka Andrew, OC Station Kabale, acted on the tip-off and dispatched a team to Kenneth’s residence, where they found him in possession of the alleged stolen goats.
Despite claiming to have bought the goats from an unidentified boda boda operator at Karukara Market in Rubanda district, he couldn’t provide further details or lead the police to the seller, raising suspicions of theft.
Maate said that Kenneth was arrested, charged with possession of suspected stolen property, and taken to Kabale police station as the stolen goats are being held too with efforts to identify their rightful owners continue.
The police spokesperson urged the members of the public who may have missing goats to report to the police station for identification and retrieval.
Maate added that the matter of a Suspected Stolen Property, Registered Kabale Central Police Station under the file Number CRB: 332/2024 for more inquiries.
