Minor Dies in Road Crash Involving Government Vehicle in Ntungamo

Ntungamo, Uganda – Tragedy struck in Ntungamo district on Tuesday when a government vehicle was involved in a devastating road crash along the Ntungamo-Kabale road, resulting in the death of a 5-year-old minor.
The deceased, Forgod Mwegesa, was identified as the son of Benon Mbamanya, a resident of Katabona cell, Rwentobo Rwahi Town council.
At the time of the accident, Forgod was a pedestrian.Eyewitnesses reported that Forgod, a school-going child, was walking with his schoolmates when they crossed the road, leaving him behind.
In an attempt to follow them, he was struck by a speeding vehicle, UG 290007, driven by Paul Ndawula, who was traveling from Kabale to Ntungamo. Unfortunately, the minor was killed instantly.
Following the incident, Police officers, led by AIP Bernard Manzi, visited the scene, conducted a postmortem examination, and towed the vehicle involved in the accident to Rubaare police station for further investigation.
This tragic incident underscores the need for increased road safety measures, particularly in areas with high pedestrian traffic.
