Uganda, Italy Partner to Upgrade Health Facilities in Karamoja Region

Karamoja, Uganda – The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Italian Government, has launched the second phase of the Karamoja Infrastructure Development Project (KIDP-II) at Nadunget Health Centre III.

The initiative aims to bridge infrastructure gaps and fortify the health system in the Karamoja Region.According to Hon.

Anifa Kawooya, State Minister of Health in charge of General Duties, KIDP-II is a crucial component of the government’s efforts to enhance healthcare infrastructure and services in the region.

The project has already provided two ambulances for Matanyi General Hospital and Kaabong General Hospital, which is expected to improve emergency medical services and healthcare outcomes in the region.

KIDP-II is funded by a €10 million soft loan from Italy and a €2 million contribution from the Ugandan government, totaling approximately UGX 46.6 billion.

The investment will be used to upgrade health facilities, equip hospitals, and strengthen the regional health system.
