From Cells to Classrooms; Inmates Excel in UCE Exams

Kampala, Uganda – Inmates from Upper Prison Inmates School in Luzira and Mbarara Main Inmates School have achieved outstanding results in the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations.

At Upper Prison Inmates School, an impressive 27 out of 28 registered candidates sat for the exams, with all of them qualifying for the UCE certificate.

Three inmates, namely Isaac Imakuru, Emmanuel Matovu, and Joweria Kaweesi, demonstrated exceptional academic prowess by earning a ‘B’ pass.

Meanwhile, at Mbarara Main Inmates School, all 11 registered candidates sat for the exams and successfully qualified for the UCE certificate.

Nobert Bainomughisha and Goodman Akamwera emerged as the top performers from Mbarara, also achieving a ‘B’ pass.

According to the prison officials the outstanding results are a testament to the rehabilitation efforts within Uganda Prisons with the inmates’ hard work and dedication have earning them an opportunity to pursue A-level education within prison facilities.

As they progress to A-level studies, the inmates will continue to receive support and guidance, empowering them to become productive members of society upon their release.
