Rev. Gillian Amongin Okello Takes Helm of Parliamentary Anglican Chaplaincy

Kampala, Uganda – Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Among, alongside Government Chief Whip Hamson Obua, welcomed Rev. Gillian Amongin Okello as the new head of the Anglican Chaplaincy in Parliament on Thursday.
The significant appointment marks a new chapter in the spiritual guidance of the Parliament.

Among expressed her appreciation to the outgoing Chaplain, Rev. Canon Christine Shimanya, for her dedicated service, which has been instrumental in helping parliamentarians serve with wisdom and integrity.
Rev. Okello’s appointment is expected to bring new spiritual leadership to the Parliament, building on the foundation laid by her predecessor.

The Anglican Chaplaincy plays a vital role in providing spiritual guidance and support to parliamentarians, and Rev. Okello’s experience and leadership will undoubtedly be valuable assets in this role.
