Police and UNRA Divert Temporary routes from Kampala to Mubende.
KAMPALA – UGANDA: Police together with the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) have Temporary imposed Diversion routes connecting Kampala to Mubende Due to Slippery Road Conditions at Kalonga along Mityana—Mubende Highway.
A 1Km section of the road at Kalonga is now experiencing traffic congestion due to slippery conditions caused by heavy rains something that has coincided with ongoing maintenance works, making it difficult for motorists to access the area.
Michael Kananura, the traffic police spokesperson confirmed that people travel from Kampala to Mubende will for a mine time Use Hoima Road to Kiboga via Kakumiro to Mubende (and opposite) and those proceeding to Fort Portal will continue to Hoima, Kagadi via Kyenjojo.
Kananura added that a joint team of officers from Uganda National Roads Authority and the Police are on-site assessing the situation and working on a response.
“To ease the situation, our teams are working swiftly to fix the bottleneck. In the meantime, motorists are advised to use the other routes to their areas.” said Michael Kananura.
He reminded the Road users to exercise caution and follow all traffic guidelines during their journeys to homes.
