KAMPALA – UGANDA: The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party have received back the Kisoro Woman Member of Parliament Hon.Grace Ngabirano Akifeza.

Hon. Akifeza won the district seat a month ago on an independent ticket in a hotly contested by-election was today Tuesday delivered to the NRM Secretariat to sign the MOU with the significant majority ruling party by the Government Chief Whip and NRM Parliamentary Caucus Chairperson, Denis Hamson Obua.

She was warmly received by Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanza Nsereko- the Party’s Deputy Secretary General, who congratulated and welcomed Hon. Akifeza back to the party.

Giving her remarks Hon. Akifeza Ngabirano expressed gratitude to the the NRM family for welcoming her and allowing her as one of their own pledging to cooperate and participate in the party activities.

“I felt like a lost child who has finally found a home. I sincerely thank the NRM family for welcoming me and allowing me to become one of their own,” said Hon. Akifeza.

Ngabirano.Akifeza, was announced the Kisoro Woman MP after she polled 50,459 votes to beat her nemesis and former MP Rose Kabagyeni who the NRM candidate, who only received 44,982 votes.

Other candidates included Aisha Cympaye of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) who got 15,057 votes followed by Juliet Musanse of the Forum Democratic Party (FDC) who went home with 1,093 votes.

Hon. Mable Ingabire of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) got 362 votes and Salim Sultana of the National Unity Platform (NUP) came last with a paltry 903 votes only.
