Nonda joins 2025 Coffee Marathon

Nonda Coffee, a Ugandan coffee value addition enterprise, has joined the 2025 Coffee Marathon whose proceeds will go towards empowering rural women in the coffee value chain to benefit more from their efforts.
To be held on May 24, 2025, at the Africa Coffee Park, Ntungamo district, the Coffee Marathon will be a celebration of the resilience, dedication, and contribution of rural coffee women, and an opportunity for both local and international participants to unite in solidarity with them.
Nonda Coffee confirmed its participation in this activity through the purchase of more than 100 Coffee Marathon kits.
“Nonda Coffee has always celebrated the value of women in coffee. This gesture reaffirms our commitment to empowering women across the coffee sector,” said Tonny Miiro Kibuuka, CEO of Nonda Commodities, adding “supporting the Coffee Marathon is an extension of our mission to see women thrive at every stage of the coffee journey—from the farm to the cup.”
While handing over the kits to Nonda Coffee, Francis Harimwomugasho, director legal affairs at Inspire Africa Group, the organizers of the Marathon noted that the Marathon will be a unique event aimed at raising awareness and generating support for the critical role rural women play in the coffee industry.
“Proceeds from the Marathon will go directly toward programs that uplift women involved in coffee farming, processing, and trade,” he said.
Coffee Value Addition efforts. Nonda Coffee’s support of this activity builds to its ongoing value addition efforts aimed at transforming coffee stakeholders across the value chain. At the start of this month, it announced that it had partnered with Saudi Arabia’s Ingazi Group International to set up the first of its kind fully-fledged coffee value chain center, named Luwero Coffee Park, with the capacity to process over 35,000 metric tons of Coffee every year.
To be located in Kasana, Luwero district, the Luwero Coffee Park will create an unprecedented demand for consistent and quality supply; a fact that will in essence encourage coffee chain stakeholders to adhere to international standards to fetch the best returns for their hard work.
This announcement was made after Ingazi Group delegation paid a courtesy call on H.E Yoweri Museveni. The purpose of the visit was to affirm the group’s commitment to investing in value-added coffee production and to cement a partnership with Nonda Commodities aimed at enhancing Uganda’s competitiveness in the global coffee market.
President Museveni welcomed the Ingazi Group’s investment in Uganda, partnership with Nonda Commodities and pledged full government support through the ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
He acknowledged the transformative potential of the Luwero Coffee Park in aligning with Uganda’s vision for agro-industrialization and value addition. Miiro further explained that the Luwero Coffee Park will be central to Uganda’s goal of industrializing agriculture and improving household incomes through agro-based value addition.
“This project represents a complete transformation of the coffee value chain — from seedling to the final premium cup. Our model integrates farmers directly into the value chain through seedling multiplication centers in Bukedi, Rushehe, Luwero and Gulu, which will serve as regional hubs for farmer recruitment, training, and supply sustainability,” Miiro explained.
