5 Apprehended in Rubanda for Extorting funds from the PDM Beneficiaries.

RUBANDA: The Acting Rubanda District Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Eric Ssewandingi, has directed the arrest of five officials from Ikumba Sub-county and Nshanjare Town Council accused of extorting money from PDM beneficiaries.

The arrested individuals include; Tumwesigye Lius, Atuheire Unique, Tumwesigye Gerald, Ahimbisibwe Elia, and Mwesigye Justus both suspected of extorting between 50,000-100,000 shillings from PDM beneficiaries.

Speaking to this reporter after the exercise, the RDC said that he earlier arrest and recovered about 2.5 million shillings from individuals including; Tumwesigye Justus the secretary for PDC Nshanjare Town Council, Arineitwe Ezera the chairperson for Loans and Tumwesigye Gerald the chairperson for PDC Committee Sacco for Nshanjare Town Council.

“Both these culprits were collecting 50,000 shillings from each parish Development Model beneficiary and I was forced to act swiftly after receiving the public outcry” said Eric Ssewandigi.

Eric Ssewandingi added that he arrest Tumwesigye Elius the Chairperson of the Ikumba PDM SACCO and Atuheire Unique the Treasurer of the Ikumba PDM SACCO who both are suspected to have been charging between 50,000-100,000 shillings from over 15 beneficiaries who testified.

Some of the PDM beneficiaries, including Biryomumeisho Marizon, Owoyesigire Yared, Abaho Anita, and Jascenta Kagasangira, among others, openly accused the arrested individuals of forcing them to pay a bribe of between 50,000-100,000 shillings.
