Three electrocuted at Church Crusade in Bushenyi

Pastor Kiiza, proprietor of Rock Ministries Church, is reportedly on the run after three people were electrocuted during a church crusade in Bushenyi district.

According to Apollo Tayebwa, spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Region Police, the victims had attended a crusade organized by Rock Ministries Church at Kashenyi marketplace in Ibaare sub-county on Friday evening.

The deceased were identified as Blessed Atuhweere, 23, from Ntungamo district; Waiswa Narutazari from Mitooma district; and William Rwakisheija from Bushenyi district.

Another attendee, Nathan Mulekwa, 40, survived with serious injuries. Preliminary investigations indicate the electrocution occurred when a metallic pole from one of the tents being erected touched a three-phase high-voltage power line.

The bodies were transferred to Kampala International University Teaching Hospital’s Ishaka mortuary for postmortem examinations. William Kasigazi, deputy RDC of Bushenyi district, faulted the organizers for failing to notify security authorities or provide a medical team at the event. He said the crusade was immediately cancelled as investigations proceed.
