Maj Gen Hussein Ada dies at 75

Maj Gen Hussein Ada, the former camp commandant at Bombo Army General headquarters, has died at the age of 75.
Ada, who hailed from Obongi district, northern Uganda, passed away on Thursday at Victoria Hospital in Ntinda, Kampala, where he had been receiving treatment. According to Dr George Bokha, member of parliament for Obongi, the retired General had been unwell and admitted to the hospital for a while.
A veteran of the armed forces with a career spanning 55 years, Ada retired from the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) in June 2018. His career included serving in the government of former president Idi Amin.
Following the fall of Amin’s government, he was arrested and detained in Luzira before being released. He then joined Dr Andrew Kayira’s rebel group, which was later integrated into the National Resistance Army (NRA).
Hassan Kaps Fungaroo, the former Obongi MP and current Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) vice president for the northern region, described Ada as the most senior officer from Obongi, noting that he will be remembered for his long service.
Condolences continue to pour in from across the West Nile region and beyond following the news of his death.
