Shamil Cruz Updates: From Seguku hustler to Uganda’s top Tiktoker

Born on 3rd December 1996, Shamil Wamala, better known as Shamil Cruz Updates, has risen to become one of Uganda’s most influential digital personalities.

Today, he is widely recognised as a blogger, influencer, and content creator whose name commands attention both online and offline.

Early life & family

Shamil was raised in Katale, Seguku, Wakiso district, under the care of both parents, whom he credits for giving him a loving upbringing.

“I grew up in a complete home, surrounded by all the parental love a child could ask for. I am forever grateful to my parents for that,” he says.

At 18, driven by ambition, he left home to carve out his own path, a decision that would later define his career.

The hustle & breakthrough

Shamil’s big break came with TikTok, a platform he has used consistently for the past three years. With engaging content and an authentic voice, he built a loyal community that has now grown to over 2.6 million followers and 75 million likes.

Through social media, he has not only sustained a comfortable lifestyle in Kampala but also invested in personal assets and cultivated friendships with high-profile individuals who continue to influence his journey.

His influence has attracted collaborations with both local and international brands, including Jollo Quality Properties, Nova Skin Care Products, and Century Properties.

Beyond content creation, Shamil is currently serving as an online media personnel at the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), led by Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo in Kyambogo. As part of his role, he will be using his platforms to broadcast and amplify the 2026 Uganda General Elections.

While he acknowledges how far he has come, Shamil insists he is just getting started.

“My dream is to grow beyond Uganda, to take on international projects and expand my influence across borders,” he says.
