A wave of nostalgia for the R&B hits of the 90s and 2000s swept through Kati Kati Grounds as music lovers gathered for the Reminisce Rhythm & Brunch Kampala Edition.

The event, born from a desire for an authentic old-school atmosphere, has become a staple on the social calendar, even expanding its reach to neighbouring Rwanda.

Organized by Social Ghana Experiences in partnership with The Reminisce and sponsored by Stanbic bank’s Flexipay, the event featured a diverse lineup of international and local DJs.

Headlining the show were UK’s Jonny Stone and Handsome Fella, Ghana’s DJ Slybeatz and Temple XTD, and Uganda’s own Timothy Code, crowd-favourite DJ Bryan, and Crysto the DJ.

The strict rule for the night was “No Amapiano. No Afrobeats. Just Old School R&B,” and the DJs delivered, flawlessly mixing high-energy sets that took the crowd on a journey back to the golden era of R&B.

A highlight of the event was the “Flexipay Happy Hours,” which offered significantly reduced prices on food, drinks, and merchandise. Joseph Ndoboli, Flexipay’s manager, explained the brand’s commitment to enhancing customer experiences.

“Seeing so many people relive their favourite R&B moments without the worry of high prices was truly special. This is what we mean by more convenience, more fun, and doing what we love for less, perfectly aligned with our purpose,” Ndoboli said.

The party kicked off in the afternoon and continued late into the night, filled with dancing and reminiscing. One reveller, Brenda Alinda, said she had missed previous editions but was glad she attended this one.

“Today, I made sure that I’m present, and yes, it was a good idea, I have enjoyed it!” she exclaimed. The successful blend of music, atmosphere, and customer-focused perks has set a new standard for themed parties in Kampala, leaving attendees eagerly awaiting the next edition.
