Kampala Auto Show grows bigger with innovations

The fourth edition of the Kampala Auto Show concluded over the weekend, attracting more than 5,000 auto enthusiasts.
The annual event once again brought together vehicle manufacturers, spare parts dealers, auto financing institutions, insurers, motorsport talent, and car lovers in a vibrant celebration of business, innovation, and entertainment.
Plascon Uganda, one of the main sponsors and partners of this year’s show, was on site to showcase its comprehensive automotive paint range, reinforcing its commitment to driving excellence and innovation within Uganda’s mobility sector. In many ways, the show lived up to its billing as a festival of speed and style.
Motorsports enthusiasts enjoyed adrenaline pumping drifting displays, stunt performances, and rally car demonstrations that kept crowds on the edge of their seats. Eric Nuwagaba, popularly known as ‘One Trouble’ from Tag Racing, emphasized the importance of such events for the local motorsport scene.
“Events like this are a great opportunity for us MotoGP riders to find new sponsors because the sport is expensive and needs more support to grow,” he noted.
Meanwhile, rally driver Umar Dauda of WRT rally team applauded the drifters and MotoGP riders for delivering a thrilling show and called on rally drivers to reciprocate the support.
“Our drifters and riders are our biggest fans in motorsport. We must also show up for them at their events to grow this community together,” he said.
