Miss Thailand is Miss World
After a good run in Hyderabad, India, where she was days earlier crowned Miss Beauty With A Purpose, Miss Uganda Natasha Nyonyozi was part of thousands of witnesses at the Hitex Exhibition Centre as Opal Suchata Chuangsri was crowned Miss World 2025 on Saturday.
Suchata is Miss Thailand. Miss Ethiopia and Miss Poland were first and second runners-up, respectively, at the 72nd edition.
Nyonyozi had days earlier made a passionate case for her cause – to advocate for children on the autism spectrum – which won her the title of ‘beauty with a purpose’, an accolade only rivalled in Africa this year by Miss Ethiopia, who also won Miss World Africa.
In recent years, Miss Uganda representatives have not gone to Miss World to play; last year Hannah Karema Tumukunde was first runner-up for Miss World Africa, while in 2018, Quinn Abenakyo emerged Miss World Africa, a first for Uganda.
