Kisoro, Uganda – Kisoro Police have launched a manhunt for a woman who escaped from custody on Friday, April 25, 2025, after allegedly giving birth to a dead fetus and dumping it at the gate of Kisoro Hospital.
According to Kisoro District Police Commander Ben Niwamanya Kashumbusha, the woman was initially rescued from a mob in Kanaba Sub County, where she was accused of stealing a goat.
She was taken to the Kisoro Police Main Headquarters and later experienced stomach complications, prompting her transfer to Kisoro Hospital.
Upon arrival at the hospital, she couldn’t find a medical attendant and vanished during the search. A dead fetus was discovered at the hospital gate.
Police investigations are ongoing to locate the woman and determine the circumstances surrounding the dead fetus.
Commander Niwamanya warned residents against promoting mob justice, emphasizing that it is punishable by law.
