Kabale, Uganda – Rukiga District has lost another life in a devastating road traffic accident in Kabaraga village along the Kabale-Mbarara road in Kabale district.

The deceased has been identified as Nabimanya Naboth, 45, a resident of Bukinda, Rukiga district, who was trapped in the Sino truck.

The road crash occurred on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at around 11 pm, involving a Sino truck, UA 156AM-T UA 165AA, belonging to Hima cement, and a silver Toyota UAZ 774S.

According to eyewitness accounts and police reports, the Toyota was traveling at high speed from Mbarara towards Kabale when it collided with the Sino truck, which was heading in the opposite direction from Kabale to Mbarara.

Both vehicles lost control and overturned, resulting in the death of the person trapped in the Sino truck, with several others injured.

Kigezi Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed that the scene was responded to by ASP Mucunguzi Wilson and his team, and the body remained stuck in the Sino truck until further arrangements could be made.

The Toyota was towed and parked at Kabale Central Police Station (CPS) pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV), while the Sino truck remains at the scene awaiting towing.

“Unfortunately, both vehicles lost control and overturned, resulting in a fatality for the person trapped in the Sino truck. Several other victims, whose identities are yet to be confirmed, were rushed to the hospital by good Samaritans. We’re currently investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the accident,” said Elly Maate.

ASP Elly Maate further confirmed that investigations into the accident are currently underway to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the incident.
